Heather Mahler ERYT, Reiki Master Teacher
I have been a lover of movement since I began ballet classes around the age of 3, and I love the symmetry between yoga and dance. I turned to yoga in 1998 to support my chronically ill/special needs son, Addison, with breathing and movement, and for myself with Tibetan Buddhist Meditation (RIGPA) with his passing in 2003. I have felt a strong and ever present calling to deepen my studies of all things philosophical, psychological, & metaphysical, and to share my findings with anyone willing to listen. Drawn to the power of slow and functional, I also like to practice Qi-Gong and really any kind of embodied movement/breathing practices I come across.
As a natural nurturer, I feel specifically aligned with the fact that as humans, our body and mind are amazingly miraculous when it comes to the healing powers we hold within us—we only need to remember. As your yoga guide, I will encourage you to take the time on your mat to become reacquainted with yourself, again and again, and to honor what you discover—in body, mind, & heart. Because when it comes down to it, you are your best teacher!
Since 2012, I have amassed thousands of teaching hours, establishing myself as an experienced instructor across diverse modalities. I specialize in Hatha, Yin, Functional, and chair yoga, Pranayama/breathwork, Meditation, and Yoga Nidra, along with experience working with myofascial release, mantra, mudra, and sound healing. Dedicated to continuous education, I am currently pursuing certification as a Yoga Therapist with Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy School.
My husband, Adam, and I are recent transplants from the suburbs to Toledo’s Old West End, and we are absolutely loving all that our beautiful and unique neighborhood has to offer, including being walking distance to downtown and the museum! We are parents to 3 amazing sons, including our eldest son, Addison, who passed away in 2003, and our 2 young adult sons, Eli and Forest. We love spending time with our family and friends, and you can find us most often enjoying as much live music as we can find.
